Synopsis

World Masterpiece Fairy Tale Series - Wow! Fairy Tale Kingdom is a 1995 Italian-Japanese anime anthology series that brings fairy tales and classic literature to the screen. The production was a joint effort between Toei Animation, Fuji Eight, and Reteitalia. The series spans 26 episodes, with each installment devoted to a different well-known fairy tale or literary classic from celebrated authors such as the Brothers Grimm, Charles Perrault, Hans Christian Andersen, Carlo Collodi, Lewis Carroll, Alexandre Dumas, Howard Pyle, Jonathan Swift, Johanna Spyri, L. Frank Baum, E. T. A. Hoffmann, James Halliwell-Phillipps, and Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont. For the most part, the episodes remain close to their original sources, though certain changes are introduced to soften unhappy endings or to fit the half-hour episode format. Note: Only 21 stories were broadcast on television, with the final 5 episodes receiving a VHS-only release.
