Tonari no Yokai-san

Synopsis

In the town of Engamori, where yokai, gods, and humans have coexisted for centuries, these beings strive to maintain their ordinary, peaceful daily lives. A 20-year-old cat named Buchio undergoes a mysterious evolution into a nekomata, a type of cat yokai, as his natural lifespan draws to a close. This transformation grants him more time with his human family but raises questions about the reason behind his change and the meaning of his newfound abilities. At the same time, elementary school student Mutsumi "Muu-chan" Sugimoto feels a growing connection with Jirou, a tengu yokai resembling a crow, who helps fill the emptiness left by her deceased father. Despite initial trouble expressing their emotions, the two slowly build a supportive bond with one another.
