Synopsis
In the story "Ikite Iru," nine-year-old Tsuyoshi organizes a get-together with his pals, but their fun is cut short when a photograph breaks during a fall. The shattered picture shows Tsuyoshi's mother holding an infant, and the date on the back is two years before Tsuyoshi was born. Confused, Tsuyoshi asks his father about the baby in the image. His father then shares the sorrowful tale of Tsuyoshi's older brother, who tragically passed away at birth, helping Tsuyoshi understand the true value of life.
