Synopsis

This sports anime, adapted from Kawai Katsutoshi's manga serialized in Weekly Shounen Sunday, revolves around professional speedboat racing. The main character, Tadano Kenji, cannot pursue his ambition of becoming a professional baseball player due to his short stature. His baseball coach steers him toward boat racing instead. One day, Tadano-san unexpectedly runs into an old girlfriend, and the two make a pact: while she pledges to remain faithful to him, he must resolve to become Japan's top racer within three years. The title move, the "Monkey Turn," is a racing maneuver that Kenji-san devised while visiting her. This technique grants him a significant edge over his rivals, but the question remains whether it will suffice to make him number one.
