Kinnikuman: New York Kiki Ippatsu!
キン肉マン ニューヨーク危機一髪!
Synopsis
Continues the story of Kinnikuman: Haresugata! Seigi Choujin
While a film is being produced at Toei Eigamura, Kinnikuman suddenly vanishes and ends up in feudal Edo Japan. There, the evil Shuten Douji demands that Princess Mari be handed over to him, threatening to destroy the world otherwise. Driven by a desire to impress a woman, Kinnikuman vows to defeat Shuten Douji. He disguises himself as Princess Mari to face the villain, but Shuten Douji and his Big Four see through the ruse and brutally punish him. Learning of Kinnikuman's plight, Terryman, Robin Mask, and the rest of the Seigi Choujins travel to Edo Japan with the aid of Kinkotsu-obaba's magic to help him.
In this installment
Terryman, Robin Mask, and the rest of the Justice Choujins are taking part in a tournament held in New York. Out of nowhere, Akuma Shogun (who is distinct from the character seen in the main series) appears, overpowers every Justice Choujin, and drains their powers—leaving out only Kinnikuman, who showed up late because he was too busy scarfing down gyuudon. Now Kinnikuman has to take on Akuma Shogun, who wields the combined might of all the defeated Justice Choujins.
Background
Crisis in New York! is the sixth theatrical film based on the anime series Kinnikuman. It was released in Japan on March 15, 1986 alongside Captain Tsubasa: Race Towards Tomorrow, GeGeGe no Kitarou: The Great Youkai War, and Choushinsei Flashman. It is set after the Dream Choujin Tag Arc. This was the last film to feature a cameo from series creators Yudetamago. It was also the second and last film to feature the Announcer. The villain in the film is Akuma Shogun, who appeared in the original manga and anime series as the leader of the Devil Knights during the Golden Mask Arc. Seiyuu Hidekatsu Shibata returns as the main antagonist of this film, having previously played that role in Great Riot! Seigi Choujin.
