Synopsis
1. Slipstream A Luftwaffe pilot faces a harrowing choice: fulfill his obligation to his country by protecting a bomber carrying Germany's last hope for victory—the world's first atomic bomb—or heed his conscience and let enemy Spitfires send it crashing in flames, consigning it to history as a mere footnote. Complicating matters is the plane's other passenger: the woman he loves. 2. Sonic Boom Squadron As the war nears its end, Japan has deployed a new weapon: a rocket-propelled flying bomb piloted by a human. Aboard a bomber carrying one of these devices, young Ensign Nogami waits for his opportunity to die as a "cherry blossom"—a suicide pilot. In just a few hours, he will meet his end. The date of his death is set: August 6, 1945. 3. Knight of the Iron Dragon Two soldiers struggle to reach an air base, determined to keep a promise—even though the reality of war may have already rendered that promise meaningless.
