In "Night Shift Nurses 2," Kuwahara, a highly respected doctor, remains unable to move on from his former love, Nanase Ren. He continually transfers between hospitals in a desperate search for her, eventually tracking her down at St. Cattleya Hospital. Despite their reunion, Ren treats him coldly, leaving his feelings unreturned. His anguish deepens when he receives a photograph showing Ren being assaulted. It is later revealed that while she was working at St. Julianna Hospital, Hirasaka conducted an experiment on Ren that changed her behavior. Devastated and frustrated, Kuwahara turns to Kazama Mana, a nurse in the obstetrics and gynecology ward who bears a resemblance to Ren and harbors feelings for him. Exploiting her devotion, he takes advantage of her, raping Mana while calling out Ren's name.
