Synopsis

Continues the story of Violet Evergarden

After four years of devastating warfare, the continent of Telesis begins to recover and rebuild. Violet Evergarden, a former soldier who knew only combat, was profoundly scarred by the conflict. Critically wounded in the final battle, she barely survived, clinging to the final words of her beloved commander—words she could not understand. Following a disagreement with her new caretakers, Violet finds work at CH Postal Services. There, she encounters an Auto Memory Doll, a professional who transcribes people's emotions and thoughts into written letters. Inspired by this role, Violet chooses to become an Auto Memory Doll herself. This new path takes her on a transformative journey, touching the lives of those she helps and leading to her own personal growth.

Years after the Great War, construction on the radio tower in Leidenschaftlich presses on, while the rising popularity of telephones threatens to diminish the need for Auto Memory Dolls. Nevertheless, Violet Evergarden's standing as a letter-writer grows stronger with every successful commission. Still, one longing remains just out of reach. This film delves into Violet's path toward grasping the depths of emotion and the true nature of love, all while she clings to a sliver of hope that the man who once professed his love to her might still be alive after so many years.
