Continues the story of Sound! Euphonium: Ensemble Contest Arc

In the summer of 2023, a new addition to the series arrives in theaters as a medium-length animated film. Set amid the summer brass band competition, the ensemble contest—often referred to as "Ancon"—offers another stage for exciting performances. While the full-band competition draws attention, smaller group performances bring their own distinct appeal. To earn a spot at the Kyoto prefectural Ancon tournament, Kitauji High School's brass band must select a representative team through an internal selection process. With over fifty members, the club faces numerous hurdles. As the newly appointed club president, Kumiko must steer through these challenges and lead the group past the preliminary rounds. Her difficult journey has only just begun.

In this installment

After winning the ensemble contest, the Kitauji High School concert band sets its sights on earning a gold medal at the national competition. As a third-year student and club president, Kumiko Oumae views this as her final opportunity to achieve success before graduating. She wrestles with a mix of excitement and anxiety, questioning her own ability to lead. Under these circumstances, Kumiko meets Mayu Kuroe, a transfer student who is both gentle and exceptionally skilled on the euphonium. Mayu previously played for the nationally renowned Seira Girls' School concert band. Although Mayu is welcomed warmly, Kumiko senses something inexplicable from their encounter. With new members joining and various initiatives underway, the club, driven by their strong yearning for gold, discovers what is truly necessary to perform at the national level.
