Ning Yi and Su Tan'er traveled to Lin'an City for business when they were suddenly caught in a dragon turning over. The bandit Thirteenth Army exploited the chaos to take Lin'an, causing the couple to become separated. Taken captive, Ning Yi encountered the Thirteenth Army's leaders—Liu Xigua, Chen Fan, and others—one after another. They held mutual regard for one another, existing as both enemies and friends. Caught between the strife of family and country, great Confucian scholars upheld their principles, heroes rose up, and the realm transformed.
