Synopsis
After losing his beloved dog Hanako, picture book writer Hotaru Yuuyami has been struggling with a creative dry spell that's lasted nearly two months. His childhood friend and editor, Tsubaki Uehara, does her best to lift his spirits, but nothing seems to work. That changes when a strange mushroom named Kinoko Inu sprouts from his garden in the shape of a dog. Much to Tsubaki's astonishment, Hotaru decides to welcome this odd new being into his home. Life together, however, doesn't proceed as smoothly as anticipated. Before long, Kinoko Inu tries to brighten Hotaru's mood by getting rid of Hanako's leftover belongings—by burning them. Managing a demanding writer and his lively new pet proves trickier than anyone expected. For Hotaru to properly take care of Kinoko Inu, he must face and move past the grief that still lingers inside him.
