Hatachi no Ryouma with Kurofune-kun!

Synopsis

This tourism-focused anime, set in Shinagawa Ward, marks the 150th anniversary of the Meiji Restoration. It centers on Sakamoto Ryouma, a key figure in bringing down the Tokugawa shogunate. Ryouma spent much of his youth in Shinagawa, where a statue now commemorates him. As a revered hero of Edo, he served as a coast guard and battery staff member when Commodore Perry arrived with his fleet of black ships. In the series, a young Ryouma meets Kurofune-kun, a chibi mascot that embodies one of those ships. Together, they journey to modern-day Shinagawa. Kurofune-kun introduces Ryouma to contemporary life, and they meet other historical figures who have likewise crossed time barriers.
