Synopsis

Continues the story of Gigantor

Dr. Haneda was developing experimental giant robot warriors intended to fight for the Allies during World War II, but before his creations could be deployed, an Allied bombing raid destroyed the facility and killed him. A decade later, criminals uncovered two surviving prototypes—units #26 and #27 in the series—and used the remote-controlled robots to commit various crimes. Twelve-year-old Shotaro Haneda, the son of Dr. Haneda, began investigating and learned that the mob was searching for the twenty-eighth robot in the series, rumored to be the most powerful of them all. Racing against the villains, Shotaro found the robot first, along with Dr. Shikashima, a colleague of his father's who was also believed to have died in the Allied bombing. Together, the two prevented Tetsujin-28 (the robot's official designation) from falling into the wrong hands and decided to dedicate it to peace rather than war. Shotaro fought crime for a long time, supported by Dr. Shikashima, who repaired Tetsujin-28 when it was damaged, and by police officer Otsuka. Shotaro even battled the alien Magmans, invaders from the planet Magma, who came to Earth late in his career, bringing their own giant robots, Magma X and Gold Wolf, with them.

Many years have gone by since Shotaro Kaneda and Tetsujin 28 safeguarded the world, but wickedness persists. A new champion and a fresh mecha, Tetsujin 28 FX, must rise to defend the planet. Masato Kaneda reappears after mysteriously disappearing for a year to resume the role of protecting Earth alongside his family and allies from the sinister Neo Black Gang. With enhancements for Tetsujin 28 FX provided by Masato's brilliant mother Yoko, and occasional aid from Shotaro and the original Tetsujin 28, will they be able to thwart the Neo Black Gang and the numerous other villains and rogue robots?
