Synopsis
This educational film focuses on Tokugawa Iemitsu, the grandson of Tokugawa Ieyasu, who founded the Tokugawa shogunate and ended the Sengoku period through his victory. Iemitsu is most famous for his isolationist policies, intended to protect Japan from foreign influence—a strategy known as Sakoku. These measures kept Japan secluded for roughly two centuries, until the Meiji period when the nation was compelled to reopen its borders.
