Continues the story of Black★Rock Shooter

The official music video that gave rise to the entire Black Rock Shooter franchise. It was inspired by huke's first official illustration, with the song composed by ryo of supercell, illustrated by huke, and performed by Hatsune Miku, the main character of Vocaloid.

In this installment

On her first day of junior high, Mato Kuroi feels an immediate connection with the reserved Yomi Takanashi and makes an effort to start a conversation, hoping to become friends. Though Yomi is hesitant at first, their bond deepens when Yomi notices a blue bird charm on Mato’s phone, a decoration from the book "Li'l Birds At Play." Realizing they share this common interest, the two quickly grow close. In a parallel world, these girls have alternate forms: Mato as the warrior Black★Rock Shooter and Yomi as Dead Master. Events in each realm seem to affect the other, though the girls remain unaware of this link. Their fates become increasingly intertwined in unexpected ways.

Background

Black★Rock Shooter is based on characters illustrated by huke. The illustrations caught the eye of music producer Ryo who then created a song based from these illustrations with his collaborative Supercell. This song's title would then become the inspiration for the anime, Black★Rock Shooter. The anime was awarded the Technical Achievement in Broadcast Animation at the 65th Motion Picture and Television Engineering Society of Japan Awards in 2012. It also received a video game adaptation for the Playstation Portable, as well as a few browser games and guest appearances in other popular video game franchises.
