Return of Pero
Nagagutsu Sanjuushi
ながぐつ三銃士
Synopsis
In the area surrounding the remains of an old castle, the hot-tempered King of Cats punishes his three gunmen for failing to bring back Pero, a former subject. Pero now lives as a carefree, stylish cat with a cool attitude, but he once resided in Cat Country until he saved a mouse from death—an action considered unforgivable due to the deep-rooted feud between cats and mice. Therefore, the King orders his gunmen to hunt down Pero by any means necessary. To escape the King's fury, Pero heads west. While dodging the gunmen's relentless pursuit, he boards a stagecoach bound for Go Go Town. Onboard, he meets Annie, a young woman returning from her studies in the East, and Jimmy, a lethargic boy. During the trip, bandits ambush the stagecoach looking for the new sheriff, but they leave empty-handed when they discover he isn't there. Once in Go Go Town, Annie learns that the Big Bad Boss murdered her father. This villain has been counterfeiting money to illegally amass wealth and also eliminates incoming sheriffs to keep control over the town. Despite attempts to frighten her away, Annie—motivated by her father's bravery—decides to open a restaurant in his old building with help from Pero and Jimmy. Pero once again rescues a young Indian mouse from a trap. The mouse's father, the Chieftain of the Indian mice, pledges to support Pero and Annie. Jimmy reveals his true identity as the new sheriff, and together they work to uncover and dismantle the Big Bad Boss's evil schemes. They expose his counterfeiting operation and bring him to justice, restoring peace to the town.
