Synopsis

Continues the story of Luoyang

During the Wu Zhou era, the imperial examination system established by Wu Zetian greatly threatened the interests of the traditional aristocracy. They conspired to stop her from assuming the throne. The main character, Pei Kun, arrives in the divine capital of Luoyang and becomes entangled in the plot orchestrated by Chun Qiudao. Through a series of unforeseen events, he unravels this vast conspiracy.

After the chaos caused by the fox demon that lured scholars came to an end, the city of God returned to its former vitality and prosperity. Empress Wu, in high spirits, decided to host a grand autumn hunt, summoning princes, nobles, and skilled martial artists to gather and compete in horseback riding and archery. Murong Ji, the young Khan of Tuyuhun, was invited to participate but inadvertently became a "suspect" in a conspiracy to assassinate the empress. With no other option, Murong Ji sought Pei Kun's assistance, hoping he could help find the real culprit and restore his reputation. To safeguard the peace of the Tang Dynasty and its people, as well as to aid his friend, Pei Kun, along with Yuchi Zhu, Han Dongqing, and other partners, once again joined forces to investigate the case. Along the way, they faced constant dangers and comedic incidents, eventually tracking down the true mastermind behind the plot to assassinate Empress Wu, thereby preventing a potential war between the Tang Dynasty and Tuyuhun.
