Synopsis
In "Sing a Bit of Harmony," Satomi Amano is a model student and the daughter of the lead project manager at Hoshima, a company that is transforming AI technology. Despite her accomplishments, Satomi feels distant from her classmates because of her family's prominence. One ordinary morning as she gets ready for school, Satomi discovers her mother's newest revolutionary concept: an AI designed to explore living together between humans and robots. Fascinated by this innovation, Satomi goes to class, where she meets the very AI intended for the experiment, Shion Ashimori. Shion is assigned to blend smoothly into the daily life of a typical high school student while hiding her artificial nature. But her real purpose is to bring happiness to Satomi. Using her extraordinary singing talent, Shion aims to create harmonious melodies that build bonds among her peers and heal the fracture in Satomi's heart.
Background
Ai no Utagoe wo Kikasete won the Audience Award at the Scotland Loves Animation Film Festival in October 2021. The movie was also awarded Best Animation Film at the 2021 New York City Film & Television Festival. In 2022, the film was nominated for the Best Animated Feature Film Award at the 45th Japan Academy Film Prize. The film was co-produced by Funimation.
