Synopsis
Qiang Niang centers on protagonist Carrie, a young woman who has lost her combat memories and is searching for herself, on the road to her ultimate "Awakening". Between 2025 and 2030, a world war that swept across the entire planet resulted in the deaths of half of humanity, and the direction of the conflict had already slipped beyond human control. In the pursuit of final victory, warfare gradually became a battle without people, much like a game. War had come to revolve around satellite lasers, bomb drones, intelligent AI, and battlefields made up of unmanned gun turrets and tanks... along with a group of young maidens who take to the fight with outdated firearms — the Gun Girls. Turning back the clock: fleeing capture by its own kind, an intelligent life-form from the cosmos arrived on Earth and merged with the "Inorganic Compound" M4A1 in the warehouse of a nearby weapons dealer. Passed from hand to hand, the M4A1 eventually wound up in the possession of a youth living in a military compound in a certain city. The youth brought the M4A1 home, talked to it, offered it care and affection, and carefully wiped it clean — and the cosmic life-form began to stir once more. In order to respond to the youth's emotions, the gun (the life-form from the cosmos) transformed into a beautiful young maiden. The youth gave the gun-turned-human the name "Carrie". However, the great nations that learned of Carrie's existence began competing to seize her, and the youth died trying to protect Carrie. Humanity then initiated research on the Gun Girl Carrie. Barrett, Shasha, and the others came into being as products of that research. Through the study of Carrie, human technology advanced remarkably, ushering in the space age. With supremacy over the cosmos at stake, war broke out among the great nations of the world. The world war had formally begun.
