Takane's Bicycle
Takane no Jitensha
タカネの自転車
Synopsis
Eleven-year-old Takasumi Takane is promised a brand-new bicycle if he places within the top 100 on his exams, but he ends up in 112th place. Rather than face the truth, he lies to his mother, claiming he ranked 92nd, and shreds his answer sheets to cover it up. While walking home from cram school, he accidentally destroys the old bicycle he was supposed to pass down to his little sister, Tamaki, which only fuels her anger. She then calls him out for his lie, and he starts viewing her as nothing but a bother. One night, while searching for his missing dog, Chris, at a nearby shrine, he runs into a mysterious young man named Yoyogi. Strangely, Yoyogi is in possession of the answer sheet marked "92nd." He offers Takane a deal—but threatens to return the sheet to its rightful owner unless Takane hands over something he doesn't need. Takane offers up his sister, Tamaki. At that exact moment, Tamaki shows up, looking for both Takane and Chris. Yoyogi transforms her into a radiant object and swallows her whole. Realizing he was wrong, Takane is determined to save her. Yoyogi agrees to restore Tamaki to normal—if Takane can beat him in a race using his broken bicycle. Can Takane win the race and rescue his sister?
