Synopsis

In an alternate 21st century, robotics technology surges forward at an unprecedented pace around the globe. By 2050, Japan has cemented its position as the dominant force in the field, spearheaded by Daiwa Heavy Industries. As innovation advances to include cybernetic enhancements grafted onto the human body, the growing ambiguity between humanity and machinery provokes a dramatic reversal in global sentiment. Reacting to this unease, the United Nations imposes a sweeping prohibition on all further robotics research and development in 2067. Japan raises fierce objections to the measure, yet finds itself powerless to halt its ratification. In defiance, the nation severs itself from international affairs, adopting a policy of total technological seclusion. With the exception of minimal trade relations, Japan effectively vanishes from the global stage. A decade later, a string of strange occurrences convinces SWORD, the American technological enforcement agency, that Japan has been secretly pursuing extensive forbidden research through the RACE network. In response, SWORD deploys a specialized squad of agents to breach the country's borders and collect intelligence on its activities. Among them is Vexille, a seasoned operative, who stumbles upon the terrifying reality concealed behind the ten years of Japan's self-imposed isolation.
