Synopsis
In Taiheiyou ni Kakeru Niji, schoolgirl Mitsuko defends her half-Chinese classmate Yu-Lian from bullies. That evening, she discovers an antique American doll named Emily. The doll was originally given to a Japanese child during an exchange program in 1921, hidden during the anti-Western "doll burnings" period, and eventually saved by a brave young girl—Mitsuko's grandmother. The next day at school, Mitsuko brings Emily and shares the doll's history, offering support to Yu-Lian.
