In That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, Satoru Mikami, a 37-year-old salaryman living a mundane existence in Tokyo with no romantic history, is suddenly stabbed on the street after a brief conversation with a colleague. As he loses consciousness, a mysterious voice delivers unintelligible commands. Upon awakening, Satoru discovers he has been reborn as a slime in an unknown world. This new form bestows exceptional abilities, most notably the power to absorb objects and creatures to acquire their traits and strengths. He soon encounters Veldora, the imprisoned Catastrophe-class "Storm Dragon" who was sealed for centuries after destroying a village. Moved by the dragon's plight, Satoru bonds with him and vows to break the seal. In return, Veldora grants him the name Rimuru Tempest and divine protection. Determined to abandon his former ordinary life, Rimuru embarks on a new journey with fresh objectives.
