Synopsis
Kanna refuses to abandon her companions and be relocated to a different shrine, so she escapes one evening accompanied by her faithful protector Ryuuya and her dear friend Uraha. Chased by individuals intent on halting their departure, the trio sets out on a quest to find Kanna's mother, who has been missing for a long time. As they deal with the difficulties of their flight, the group moves outside the palace's boundaries, stepping into the wider world for a brief respite before the challenges that lie ahead.
Background
Air in Summer was released on DVD by Pony Canyon in Japan on October 5, 2005. The company later released a Blu-ray disc box that bundled the special episodes on December 22, 2006. ADV Films published the special episodes on DVD in North America on November 27, 2007. Funimation included Air in Summer in the Air Complete Series DVD collection, which was released on April 21, 2009.
