Synopsis
In one town, a string of bizarre assaults took place one after another. The incidents were so eerie that people began to murmur about ghosts and wicked spirits being to blame. At the school Akitoshi attended, a certain unease took hold. The very next day, a girl who looked completely out of place appeared on the school paths. Everyone else in the student body treated it as if it was a matter of course, but Akitoshi was sure he had never laid eyes on her. Suspicion nagged at him, so he shadowed her, hoping to uncover the truth—only to lose her in the crowd. Then the scream of a woman cut through the air, carrying over from the material depot nearby. He rushed over and stopped in his stride: hanging there, surrounded by wavering spirits—beings called Yuragi—was Mikage, the girl who was the most beautiful at the school. She was completely exposed, hanging naked in mid-air. The Yuragi, catching sight of Akitoshi, veered to attack with menacing shrieks. But then the looming figure Ai appeared, and with a single blade her strikes she made them all disperse. Akitoshi stared at Ai. One thin line hung the question in the air: was she a friend, or was she a foe?
