Synopsis
Within the seemingly flawless domed city of Romdo, a disturbing shift occurs. A sudden surge in murders coupled with a virus infecting the AutoReivs—the cyborg companions and laborers serving Romdo's population—indicates that their sheltered existence is crumbling. Detective Re-l Meyer initiates an inquiry into these escalating strange events, yet her pursuit of the truth plunges her entire world into chaos. First, the enigmatic immigrant Vincent Law vanishes, followed by the appearance of a monstrous entity that shakes Re-l to her core. This creature proves far more perilous and sinister than it initially appears. Every mystery she investigates ultimately circles back to this being. What is its true nature? What is its purpose? Is it a harbinger of the end or the dawn of something new? Whatever it is, it continually pulls her toward Vincent, eventually leading her to join him on a journey to another domed world known as Mosk. As they traverse the scarred and desolate Earth, Re-l and Vincent uncover more about the monster and the "awakening," a phenomenon that may signal an ending rather than a beginning.
