In the world of vampires, many possess specific weaknesses that offset their immense power, but Draluc, the vampire lord, has an unusual set of vulnerabilities. Sent on a mission to rescue a boy from within Draluc's supposedly impenetrable castle, the vampire hunter Ronald discovers that the vampire disintegrates at the sound of a simple clap. Moreover, the boy he was meant to save had only entered the castle to play video games while Draluc was napping. After the castle's destruction, the fragile Draluc ends up living with Ronald, his easy conqueror. Along with Draluc's pet armadillo, John, the three form an unlikely group that must work together to handle challenges such as Ronald's pushy editor, other vampires causing chaos in the city, and rival vampire hunters.
