Les Misérables: Shoujo Cosette

Synopsis

In nineteenth-century France, Fantine, a penniless single mother, entrusts her three-year-old daughter Cosette to the Thernardiers, a couple she has only just met, believing them to be kind—only to discover they are cruel and abusive. Cosette endures great suffering, subjected to harsh treatment and forced labor while still clinging to the hope of being reunited with her mother. While running an errand for the Thernardiers, she meets Jean Valjean, a noble stranger who recognizes her as the child he has been searching for. He rescues her and relocates to a nearby town, granting Cosette a fresh start under his care. Inspired by Jean, Cosette vows to use her newfound freedom to assist others and heal her country, determined that no one else should endure what she has gone through. Against the backdrop of the French Revolution, this hopeful young girl remains steadfast in her mission to reduce poverty and suffering in France.
