Synopsis
Dai Mugen once possessed an unparalleled passion for drumming, but a crushing defeat at the hands of rival Rin Tanba during a competition left him questioning his true path, leading him to quit entirely. One day, Dai experiences a fateful meeting with a peculiar creature named Goutetsu, who declares himself a "god." Recognizing the boy's latent potential, Goutetsu immediately designates Dai as his "oyakata," a coach destined to guide him through "kamizumo," a realm where gods battle via sumo wrestling. In these kamizumo matches, the gods draw their power from the drumbeats delivered by their oyakata, compelling Dai to grasp the mallets once again. As the pair begins accumulating victories, Dai faces his lingering self-doubts and rekindles his drive to reach the pinnacle of the kamizumo stage. Note: Each episode originally aired split into two segments before being released in a full version.
Background
Saikyou Kamizmode! was first announced on July 22, 2020 during a Bandai Namco x BN Pictures Festival livestream event. The first episode premiered on September 28, 2020 on Bandai Namco Pictures' YouTube channel before its television premiere on Tokyo MX, which premiered on October 9, 2020.
