Synopsis
Nagomi Wahira, a naive and devoted admirer of the charming maids in maid cafes, dreams of becoming one herself. She relocates to Akihabara and starts working at the maid cafe Ton Tokoton. On her very first day, a seemingly routine errand to another maid cafe with her poised new colleague, Ranko Mannen, quickly descends into chaos. Nagomi watches as Ranko expertly fights off a band of armed maids, exposing the intense, violent rivalries among Akihabara's maid cafes. As Nagomi struggles with the stark gap between her idealized vision and the brutal reality, she continues seeking the happiness she once believed a maid's life would bring.
Background
The word "Meido" (冥途) in the title is a play on words, where the kanji means "underworld," and is pronounced the same as "maid" in Japanese pronunciation.
