Synopsis

This film combines live-action footage with animated segments and was presented at the Three-Person Animation 2 event. Its soundtrack consists of musique concrète and electronic sounds created by altering everyday noises, such as the sound of a toilet flushing. The story emphasizes oppositions between different elements, as suggested by its title. These oppositions range from live-action scenes versus animated ones, ordinary sounds set against unusual noises, and the struggle between the sexes—a recurring motif in Youji Kuri’s body of work. Furthermore, the movie blends musique concrète with scat singing to reinforce these thematic dichotomies.
