Following an unsuccessful romantic advance, Masamune Okumura finds comfort in the imaginary worlds of anime and manga. As a second-year high school student and the president of the Manga Research Club, he leads a secluded life deeply involved with the adventures of his beloved character, the angel Liliel. The start of the new school year disrupts Masamune's usual routine when he meets first-year student Ririsa Amano, an enthusiastic cosplayer. Despite initial hesitation, Ririsa convinces Masamune to become her personal photographer for a photo collection focused on their shared admiration for Liliel. As Masamune explores the realms of cosplay and photo editing, he unexpectedly reconnects with his childhood friend, Mikari Tachibana, who has become a model in hopes of catching his attention. Realizing that modeling alone will not spark the devoted otaku's interest, Mikari also joins the club and starts cosplaying, aiming to win Masamune's affections. However, his feelings for fictional characters might not carry over to those who embody them in real life.
