Synopsis
The animated series "Dedari" is based on rituals documented during fieldwork in Bali, Indonesia. Among the various Sangyan ceremonies practiced on the island, the narrative centers on Sangyan Dudari, believed to be the most effective rite for driving away evil spirits. In this ritual, two girls who have not yet begun menstruating become possessed by the spirit of Dudari, a celestial maiden, and carry out an uninterrupted dance.
