Xam'd: Lost Memories

Synopsis

Sentan Island is a small landmass surrounded by the Yuden Sea, existing in a state of dreamlike calm, untouched by the ongoing war between the Northern Government and the Southern Continent Free Zone. The protagonist, Akiyuki Takehara, lives on Sentan Island with his mother Fusa. Though his father Ryuzo, the town doctor, no longer lives with them, the father-son bond remains intact. One day, after delivering the lunch Fusa has prepared to Ryuzo as he always does, Akiyuki arrives at school, only to be caught in an explosion alongside his friends Haru and Furuichi. The blast gives rise to a strange light that penetrates Akiyuki's arm, causing him intense agony. Before he has any chance to grasp what is happening, the white-haired girl who shared the bus ride with him leads him toward a power beyond anything he has ever experienced.

Background

Conceptualized by Bones and co-developed by Sony Computer Entertainment, Aniplex, and Bones, Bounen no Xamdou debuted on Sony's inagural launch of the Playstation Network video download service at E3 in the United States on July 16, 2008, and in Japan on September 24, 2008. The series would later on have its television premiere on MBS, CBC, Tokyo MX, and other Japanese broadcast networks in April 2009.
