Synopsis
In 1983, at the peak of the Cold War, humanity faces a terrifying new enemy: the BETA, mysterious aliens determined to eradicate all life on Earth. To fight back, soldiers are deployed to pilot giant combat machines called Tactical Surface Fighters (TSFs). Yet despite their efforts, the front lines keep falling back toward the last surviving cities. "Schwarzes Marken" follows Second Lieutenant Theodor Eberbach and his fellow members of the 666th TSF squadron. This ruthless unit, commanded by war hero Captain Irisdina Bernhard, is stationed in East Germany and prioritizes efficient mission execution, often at the expense of human lives. Specializing in counterassaults against laser-equipped BETA, the 666th soon faces new obstacles beyond the alien menace. When the idealistic rookie Katia Waldheim joins the squadron, she attracts the attention of the East German secret police, the Stasi.
Background
Schwarzesmarken takes place in an alternate universe of the Muv-Luv franchise, following the storyline of the light novels. A visual novel was released on November 27, 2015, and a second was announced for 2016.
