Firewood, Kanta and Granpa

Synopsis

In a remote Japanese mountain hamlet, this stop-motion puppet story follows Kanta and his ailing Granpa, who live together in a snow-covered log cabin. With their firewood dwindling and Granpa's health worsening, Kanta realizes that without warmth, his grandfather might not survive the cold. Determined to help, the young boy sets out alone for the woodshed. Though he yearns to assist, Kanta is terrified of the dark, isolated shed, especially at midnight. Summoning his courage, he takes the first step. In the end, Kanta discovers something tiny yet profoundly precious.
