Synopsis
Yuuji Kaidou, suffering from an incurable disease, chooses to be placed into cryogenic sleep in hopes of a future cure. When he awakens, he finds a world overrun by monstrous creatures that prey on humans. He is rescued just in time by a group of soldiers who pilot large mecha to fight these beings. Marlene Angel, the squad's commander, explains that Earth was invaded years ago by an alien species called BLUE, which nearly wiped out humanity. Confronted with this harsh new reality, Yuuji decides to join the fight against the BLUE. But he soon realizes that to truly aid in humanity's survival, he will need far more than mere resolve.
Background
Blue Gender was released on DVD in North America by Funimation Entertainment in eight volumes from October 16, 2001, to January 28, 2003. The publisher re-released the series on Blu-ray and DVD on June 21, 2011.
