Synopsis
Tonde Mon Pe centers on Mon-Mon, a fifteen-year-old girl from the countryside who aspires to become a fashion designer. She lands a job as an au pair for the ambitious designer Mrs. Kano, her baby daughter PePe, and Mrs. Kano's whimsical writer spouse. What Mon-Mon does not know is that PePe has psychic powers that make toys and animals act in strange ways. Though the surreal occurrences initially overwhelm her, Mon-Mon stays sweet, hardworking, and kind despite her lack of polish and her confusion over living plushies and creatures. As her duties grow more hectic and demanding, she considers leaving and going back home. However, PePe—a psychic child who has formed a strong attachment to Mon-Mon—steps in to make sure she stays part of their household.
