Misaki Yata is a spirited boy whose reckless and immature behavior has caused his classmates to avoid him. Saruhiko Fushimi is a solitary individual whose troubled family life, especially his peculiar father Niki, has made him see the world in a gloomy light. Though they are complete opposites, Yata's lively nature eventually earns Fushimi's trust, and the two become the closest of friends. As time goes by, both boys grow weary of being confined within their small world, which leads them to step into the chaotic and perilous realm of the Dresden Slate.

It is early December, and Anna Kushina’s birthday is drawing near. To celebrate, the members of HOMRA decide to organize a surprise party for their cherished princess. Tatara Totsuka, the only clansman who can rein in the destructive force of the Red King, Mikoto Souh, wishes to go the extra mile by recording a video specifically for Anna’s birthday. At the same time, the new Colorless King sets his scheme to consume the other kings into motion.
