Synopsis
An animated feature film centered on the historical Buddhist monk and celebrated poet Ryoukan, who resided in 18th-century Japan during the Edo Period. Despite being born into a wealthy family in Izumozaki, Ryoukan forsakes the comfortable life that would have been his inheritance in pursuit of life's deeper meaning through Buddhist practice. From his early adult years, he endures rigorous training that demands a solitary and austere existence. Throughout his life, he remains exceptionally modest and humble, a genuine humanitarian who embraces every person for who they are while turning away from all worldly acclaim and riches. Ryoukan discovers lasting peace in life through nature and quality time with children. His untainted heart and warm nature have charmed many, and his enduring influence and the wisdom of his teachings continue to resonate today.
