Gu-Gu Ganmo

Synopsis

Like earlier manga such as Doraemon and Obake no Q-Taro, Gu-Gu Ganmo centers on Ganmo—a chicken-like alien that wears sneakers—as he sets out to help his human friend Hanpeita. The series depicts their humorous adventures and the chaotic predicaments they face. One morning, Tsukune Tsukuda spitefully releases her brother's pet bird, only to regret it later. She returns home with an egg she found, intending to give it to her brother, Hanpeita. At first unimpressed by the unusually large egg, Hanpeita is shocked when it suddenly swells, cracks open, and a bizarre bird-like creature named Ganmo emerges, able to speak like a human. Ganmo ends up living with the Tsukuda family. To avoid being a burden, Ganmo takes on various tasks such as running errands and cleaning the house, though his attempts often create more chaos than order. His efforts to make up for the trouble only lead to further confusion. When a pretty girl moves into the neighboring house with her own peculiar pet, a myna bird named Déjà-vu, Ganmo faces even more ridicule for his odd appearance. Déjà-vu, though stylish, is known for its sharp tongue and constant teasing of Ganmo. As a result, Ganmo finds himself tangled in an ever-growing web of comedic mayhem.
