This is the continuation of The Big O. The series was originally planned for 26 episodes, but low viewership in Japan caused only the first 13 to be produced. Due to positive international reception, a second season consisting of the remaining 13 episodes was made, co-produced by Cartoon Network, Sunrise, and Bandai Visual.
