The Garden of Words

Synopsis

In Tokyo, on a rainy morning, high school student Takao Akizuki, who dreams of becoming a shoemaker, skips class to sketch shoe designs in a quiet garden. There, Takao encounters Yukari Yukino, a mysterious woman. He offers to craft her a pair of shoes, and the two begin meeting regularly throughout the rainy season. Finding comfort in each other's company, they share their personal troubles and gradually ease their burdens. However, their individual struggles remain unresolved. As the rainy season draws to a close, their bond faces its greatest challenge.

Background

Kotonoha no Niwa won the Feature Film Award in the 18th Animation Kobe Awards in 2013 and shared the Satoshi Kon Award for Achievement in Animation with Berserk: Ougon Jidaihen III - Kourin. In 2014, the movie won the AniMovie Award for best feature film.
