Synopsis
In the aftermath of the Valbanil War, which ended forty-four years ago, the surviving nations agreed to a peace treaty that outlawed the dangerous demon contracts that had previously caused widespread devastation. Cecily Cambell, a young knight, is determined to uphold her family’s legacy by protecting the people with her father’s treasured sword. Cecily encounters her first challenge when a crazed swordsman attacks the marketplace. She rushes to defend the civilians, but her weapon shatters during the confrontation. A cloaked figure wielding an unusual blade steps in and neutralizes the assailant. After the chaos, Cecily visits a nearby blacksmith to repair her damaged heirloom. She soon realizes that her rescuer, Luke Ainsworth, who is also the blacksmith, may possess the specialized skills required for such intricate repairs. Determined to restore her beloved sword, Cecily pursues the man who saved her life. Later, a band of brigands ambushes a caravan heading to the city, revealing monstrous forms and an ice demon among them. Luke uses a holy power to defeat these enemies, who are suspected to be operating under a forbidden demon contract. Meanwhile, a hooded figure watches from a distance. Who is this mysterious adversary, and how will their presence affect Cecily and Luke?
