Synopsis
The narrative centers on the 108th Guard Squad, stationed in Aomori. This unit is poorly outfitted and holds little military significance, often regarded as a "reject camp" for pilots who fail to qualify for the elite forces stationed in Hokkaido. The seemingly defenseless nature of this group does little to discourage the advancing enemy troops, who steadily close in on both the 108th and the rest of the empire. The young pilots of the 108th, who once dreamed of returning home, are thrust forcefully and against their will into the midst of war.
