Synopsis
Each March, NHK holds the Heat Exhibition, an event that welcomes submissions of poetry from people with disabilities, giving selected participants the chance to see their work paired with original art from a celebrity. Every year, 50 entrants are chosen. One poem, submitted by Megumi Ichimura—who has an intellectual disability—was given a melody by classically trained Japanese violinist Ikuko Kawai. Together with singer Emiko Shiratori, they produced a song called Obaachan Moshikashite, which aired on the Minna no Uta program in April 2005. The video blends live-action footage with animation created by Seiichi Hayashi.
