Synopsis

In "Key the Metal Idol," Tokiko Mima—nicknamed Key—is a 17-year-old robot living as a human in rural Japan. After her grandfather, Dr. Murao Mima, dies, Key inherits a crucial mission: she must become a real human by gaining thirty thousand friends. This task forces her to leave the peaceful Mamio Valley for the bustling city of Tokyo, where she reunites with her childhood friend Sakura Kuriyagawa. Inspired by idol singer Miho Utsuse, Key considers a music career to reach her friendship goal. But Miho's glamorous life hides a dark link to Jinsaku Ajou, a former rival of Dr. Mima who secretly advances military robotics. As Key works toward becoming human, Ajou's dangerous plan unfolds, revealing the complex layers of Key's true identity.
