Eden of The East
Higashi no Eden
東のエデン
Synopsis
On November 22, 2010, Japan was struck by "Careless Monday," a missile attack that miraculously resulted in zero casualties, allowing society to quickly return to normal as the incident faded from collective memory. Three months later, college student Saki Morimi is traveling in the United States for her graduation trip when she encounters Akira Takizawa, a naked man suffering from amnesia who rescues her from peril and claims to be a terrorist. Takizawa possesses a peculiar cell phone containing 8.2 billion yen in digital currency. Although his actions and situation are bizarre, Saki finds herself inexplicably drawn to him. Unaware of the broader implications, she becomes entangled in a high-stakes game involving immense wealth, mobile technology, and the destiny of the world. Higashi no Eden chronicles Saki's quest to reveal the truth behind her savior, while Takizawa faces off against other challengers equipped with identical phones, gradually regaining memories that suggest his connection to the earlier missile attacks.
