Synopsis
Five years after the start of public broadcasting in Japan, hybrid animated and live-action commercials for Momoya food products began airing in 1958. These ads, built around the over-the-top character Norihei Miki, were made for actress and comedian Tanuma Noriko. The campaign gained widespread popularity and eventually branched out into newspaper comic strips filled with puns and satire. Lasting more than five decades, the series brought over 300 characters to life, though a core group of seven appeared most regularly.
