Synopsis
In a distant future, humanity is threatened by creatures called Gadoll. Survivors have taken refuge in the Tank, the lower section of the massive mobile fortress Deca-Dence. The upper-level residents, known as Gears, serve as warriors fighting the Gadoll, while those in the Tank mainly support efforts by processing Gadoll meat and improving defenses. Among them is Natsume, a young woman with a prosthetic right arm who dreams of joining the elite Tanker soldiers who fight alongside the Gears. Though other orphans have been assigned their roles, Natsume's application to join the Power remains unapproved. She works temporarily as a cleaner on an armor repair crew led by the stern and distant Kaburagi, who hides a deeper purpose. Initially dismissive of his optimistic subordinate, Kaburagi begins to see in Natsume the potential to disrupt the established order. He takes on the role of her mentor, preparing her to become a key force that challenges the system.
